Optimum Protection for Man and Machine

May 25, 2010

A safe shut-off prevents machine and material damages - even more important - helps operating personnel avoid risks.  With MIRO SAFETY Relays, Murrelektronik offers a solution for securing operating procedures Two new components are now available: MIRO Safe SSO is designed for applications with many switching processes and MIRO Safe Flex is for extremely universal applications. The safety relays in this product range are an important component of a consistent safety chain. They make it possible to monitor emergency circuits and guard doors, control light barriers and light curtains, and are suitable for two hand controls and safety foot mats. Pluggable terminals designed with quick connection technology enable time-saving installation. Now, the newest addition is MIRO Safe SSO (Safety Semiconductors Outputs). This component is suitable for emergency circuits and guard door applications. MIRO Safe SSO is equipped with four semiconductor outputs. They never wear out, do not show contact bounce times and they are resistant to shock and vibration. It allows creating logical AND operations as well as logical OR operations. The latter are not possible with safety applications; however, they are still interesting for machine and plant installations. An outstanding feature of MIRO Safe Flex is its high adaptability. This relay is designed for universal use and suitable for various applications: for emergency stops, guard doors, two-hand operation, light barriers and light curtains as well as pulsing safety switches. Depending on the application, the MIRO Safe Flex is wired in a different way. The module is equipped with two safety relay outputs and one alarm output in the form of a semi conductor. A significant benefit of MIRO Safe Flex is: it simplifies inventory and ordering processes. One module, many options! The two new MIRO SAFE relays have all approvals according to EN 61508 SIL 3 or EN 62061 and according to EN ISO 13849-1 category 4 PL e.
