The Quality Technician plays a vital and critical role in our quality management.This role requires the ability to assist customers with testing and product failures. Further involvement in the operational business includes the creation and maintenance of ISO documentation, work instructions, supplier audits/ evaluation, random QS for manufacturing, and data collection. Analyze quality reports and return products to make recommendations for continuous improvement or corrective action.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspection on cables.
- Create and maintain receiving inspection records to comply with ISO standards.
- Create and maintain Initial Sample and Test Report (ISTR).
- Performs First Piece Inspections/ Measurements and provides data to engineering as part of the approval process.
- Examines non-conforming parts and assemblies to determine disposition and appropriate action.
- Provide feedback and recommend solutions to responsible parties for non-conformance including
- Perform Scrap Analysis
- Process Customer RMAs
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis when repetitive failure of company’s products occurs, or failure under warranty.
- May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
- Assist and train staff and customers, when required, in troubleshooting and repairing returned products.
- Analyze monthly reports of quality data to review trends and spikes, and then implement corrections.
- Responsible for communicating with customers on quality related matters and completing any required customer documentation.
- Report test results to appropriate departments in regards to quality defects.
- Preliminary inspection/ feasibility analysis
- Drafting of product with 3D CAD modeling software
- Random quality checks in the manufacturing area
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in a quality related role or performing quality inspections in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn to read and understand technical documents.
- Ability to learn to troubleshoot defect symptoms to determine the actual cause of a problem.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant safety goals
- Proficient in English (read, write, understand)
- Must be able to maintain composure and professional demeanor during stressful situations.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
